A successful Dual Pricing program requires the proper training, tools, and industry experts to make sure it is delivered correctly. Priority Bancard is available throughout the implementation and training process to make sure you succeed.
BEFORE implementing Dual Pricing, confirm that the provided signage for your customers is visible at every POS station and point of entry.
Make sure ALL customer facing staff is adequately trained on the program and how to respond if customers were to ask about the cash vs card price.
Have training documents printed and ready to hand out to your staff. Schedule semi-annual training with your employees as a refresher for Dual Pricing and training for new hires.
Dual Pricing provides the customers options to either pay the regular card price or receive a savings by paying with cash.
Merchants price and promote their goods and services at cash and card prices. A sign is placed at the entry and each POS system explaining the option to save pay paying with cash. The customer then selects their method of payment.
Yes! According to Mitchell Katz, spokesperson for the FTC: "The Dodd-Frank law prohibits a payment card network like Visa “from inhibiting the ability of any individual to give a discount for payment by cash, checks, debit cards, or credit cards,” said Katz. “Neither surcharging, nor a [dual pricing] is unlawful.”
In order to remain compliant, your credit card machine must be certified and programmed to display the correct price on the PIS and the receipt.
